Context
Zambia belongs to the group of the poorest countries in the world (HDI 141/187). As a consequence majority of the population lives in tough situations without sufficient access to health care, education, social welfare and protection of their rights. HIV/AIDS has further worsened the situation by bringing the traditional social system to the brink of collapse. 66.2% of the population is below the age of 25 years. Education is therefore a key factor for development. Many families in Zambia cannot afford to send their children to school and do not even have the means for uniforms, school material, exam fees and other financial contributions. In addition, many schools are lacking qualified and motivated teaching personnel, infrastructure and teaching material.

Partner Organisation
The Partner Organisation consists of two organisations. PaKachele Primary offers primary education while Seko Orphanage offers shelter and home environment. PaKachele Primary School is a non-profit, non-governmental organization, set up in 2010 to help the orphaned and vulnerable children in Ng’ombe compound and surrounding areas. Seko Orphanage was set up to offer shelter to orphaned boys and girls between the ages of 5 to 18 years. It supports the children in giving them a safe environment, assisting them with education, empowering them with life skills and giving them nutritious food, medical and psychosocial care.
